LOT partners with SkyCell’s hybrid technology
LOT Polish Airlines and SkyCell signed an agreement to extend LOT Cargo’s offer for the transport of pharmaceutical products. The partnership combines our innovative hybrid containers together with LOT’s tailor-made solutions and dedicated pharma lanes.
Transporting pharmaceutical products globally requires the robust application of specialist solutions and meeting the very high demands of the healthcare industry. This is where SkyCell’s hybrid containers come into play. With pharma and life-science playing a vital part in LOT’s global cargo transport, it has partnered with SkyCell in order to improve and distinguish its offer for pharma clients that want safe, secure and sustainable solutions for their shipments.
“The signing of an agreement with SkyCell, which allows us to use the hybrid containers for transport, is the next stage in the development of LOT Cargo's offer and a step towards building a hub in Warsaw for pharmaceutical shipments distributed worldwide."
Reliable containers are an important element of an end-to-end cold supply chain and help to prevent temperature excursions. Our hybrid containers enable medicines to be transported in stable temperature conditions, thus ensuring the security of the whole process of delivery from production to patient. The agreement allows LOT to use SkyCell’s full temperature range, which covers -80°C to +25°C.
“Our partnership will leverage safe and tailor-made solutions with dedicated pharma lanes to increase the safety of pharmaceutical shipments and thus give our joint clients the peace of mind over their supply chain.”
Furthermore, SkyCell’s hybrid containers are secured through an IoT monitoring service, so they can track temperature conditions and give full visibility over each shipment. Our efficient insulation and cutting-edge cooling technology maintains steady temperatures for an average of 202 hours (8.4 days), with the possibility to prolong the runtime through automatic self-recharging in cooling chamber or reefer truck if it is required.
Reducing any potential human errors through an easy-to-handle design, and an independency of mechanical components, the self-charging hybrid container is also a fully reusable container solution. This will enable LOT to hit its own sustainability goals by cutting carbon dioxide emissions by up to 50%.
We look forward to offering LOT’s clients further assurances within their supply chain, and to helping deliver lifesaving vaccines and medicines to patients around the world.
