Two years of partnership with zero temperature excursions

SkyCell presents quality award to Emirates SkyCargo

For its outstanding performance in pharma transport, Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, was honored with the first SkyCell Quality Award at Air Cargo Europe in Munich, Germany. With the award, the Swiss-based manufacturer highlight business partners with exemplary best-practices. SkyCell and Emirates SkyCargo have been cooperating for two years in pharma shipments across the globe without a single temperature excursion during joint transports. The SkyCell Quality Award is bestowed in the categories Safest Partner Airline, Safest Freight Forwarder and Safest Supplier.

Julian Sutch, Pharma Global Sales at Emirates SkyCargo

We are delighted to be the first recipient of the SkyCell Quality Award. With our Emirates Pharma product, we are always striving to provide state of the art protection for their temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical cargo. SkyCell has been an important partner for us in this journey.

Over the last two years we have moved pharma consignments across more than 30 global destinations with SkyCell and we have not had a single instance of temperature excursion for these shipments. It is a validation of the infrastructure and the processes that we have taken pains to develop both at Dubai as well as across our network.

The SkyCell Quality Award is based on the criteria of performance, capacity and sustainability. SkyCell has been committed to high quality and sustainability in the pharmaceutical cold chain industry for years. Together with its partner airlines, SkyCell is developing comprehensive lane standard operating procedures to ensure safe and seamless transportation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. Further, SkyCell was the first pharmaceutical container manufacturer to be audited by a Top Four Audit company and to disclose the temperature data of its shipments. The result shows an impeccable performance with less than 0.1% temperature deviations. SkyCell is also a pioneer when it comes to sustainability, reducing carbon footprints by up to 50% and saving between 5,000 and 20,000kg of CO2 per use.

For two years, Emirates SkyCargo’s customers have been able to ship temperature-sensitive pharma and life sciences products with SkyCell’s temperature-controlled containers. The Swiss Made containers are designed to protect products within temperature ranges of +2°C to +8°C and +15°C to +25°C, even with extreme outside temperatures arranging from –35°C to +65°C for several days. SkyCell’s patented containers recharge automatically in Emirates SkyCargo’s cool chain network, thus enabling “door to door” delivery for a closed supply chain and have close to real-time temperature monitoring capability.

Richard Ettl, CEO

We are working closely with selected airline partners that are committed to delivering best in class quality. With our award, we want to showcase Emirates SkyCargo’s commitment to quality in pharma transports and inspire others to go the extra mile as well
