SkyCell publishes second annual Sustainability Report
SkyCell is pleased to share with you our second annual Sustainability Report. We believe it is an important part of our mission to detail the progress made in achieving our sustainability targets and share these with all our stakeholders.
Our targets are science-led and are aligned to both the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We will continue to work towards our goal of achieving end-to-end net-zero emissions by 2040 and chart a positive, more sustainable way forwards for the pharma industry.
Some of the key updates in the report this year include:
- SkyCell operations have successfully transitioned to run solely on renewable electricity
- Earlier this year we were awarded an Ecovadis Gold Medal in recognition for our accomplishments in the environment, ethics, labor and sustainable procurement
- We have achieved an 8% decrease in our Scope 3 emissions by optimizing shipment routes, minimizing empty transports, and shifting towards more sustainable modes of transport.
The healthcare industry is a significant contributor of global CO2 emissions, emitting two gigatons of CO2 emissions annually, the equivalent of being the fifth-largest emitting country globally. For pharma companies, supply chains represent a sizable proportion of these emissions. By working closely with our pharma customers, we’re working hard to provide the solutions they need to optimize their shipments and reduce emissions.
As is the case for the majority of companies, some emissions are still unavoidable. For SkyCell this primarily occurs during the manufacturing process and transport of our containers. We share more details on how we currently offset these emissions and how we will work to reduce them in the future.
With our latest sustainability report, we want to lead by example and demonstrate how we are taking steps towards our net-zero goal.
