Preventing temperature excursions is becoming more and more difficult as temperature extremes become commonplace globally. Thanks to an independently validated excursion rate of less than 0.05%, many pharma companies and their partners have switched to SkyCell to future-proof their supply chain.
This
high-performance and seamless service was demonstrated in a recent shipment from Melbourne (MEL) to Brussels (BRU) via Dubai (DXB). Throughout the journey, our customers’ pharmaceutical products required precise temperature maintenance within a range of +15°C to +25°C.
At the start of the lease, preconditioned SkyCell 1500X hybrid containers were handed over and filled in Melbourne to begin their journey. At Melbourne Airport, the well-established customs solutions ensured a smooth process. With robust customs clearance procedures in place globally, we can ensure timely and compliant deliveries that avoid the delays commonly associated with international shipping.
The containers quickly passed through customs and were loaded onto the airplane, with the ambient temperature dropping to a cool 8.3°C in Melbourne. However, during the layover in Dubai, external temperatures soared to blistering 58.1°C.
Despite extreme temperature variations, SkyCell’s 1500X containers maintained stable internal temperatures with only a 1.5°C variance. With an independent runtime of 270 hours, hybrid containers are uniquely suited to long, complex routes. Unlike active containers, there’s no need for electrical power or plugs, offering greater flexibility and reliability on challenging journeys.
From Dubai, the containers were flown to Brussels and transported to their final destination. Then, our customer simply dropped off the empty containers at our partner’s warehouse near Brussels Airport. From here, SkyCell transported them to the service center in Brussels to be cleaned, refurbished, and preconditioned for their next journey.
